The Guggenheim

One hour before sunset at the Guggenheim. The best way to approach the museum is from across the Reservoir, when the building’s curves flatten out against the rest of the Upper East Side skyline and it feels less like a grand artistic statement and more like one small, useful part in some larger machine. I saw a different scene when I sat down across the street. Old people walking by in pastel shirts. A gyro truck packing up after a days work. Taxis pulling in and out like a revolving door. Wedding parties posing for pictures. Everything starting to bloom.
