Deep in the Cheap Seats

$900.00

The Mets take on the Dodgers on an August night. It’s like Conor Oberst once said. I know that victory is sweet even deep in the cheap seats.

Behind the Painting

There’s not a bad place to paint at Citifield. One time I sat in the upper deck next to a guy in a DeBlasio jersey. He kept taking pictures with fans. It turned out to be the mayor himself.

Another time I got to tour the lower halls of the stadium with some fellow Kansans. We walked up through the players entrance. We spent most of the game watching the sun set over the NYC skyline. It pays to have friends on the grounds crew.

Or the time I watched the final game of the World Series and lost my voice shouting in the standing room only section. I won’t tell you who I was cheering for then, but you can bet I’ll be rooting for the Mets any other day.

I remember the night I painted this one. The Angels and the great Shohei Otani were in town. I was deep in the cheap seats on a hot August night, and the view couldn’t have been better.
